Background
The Executive Director is contracted by the PVMA Board of Directors (Board) to assist the Board with the strategic planning and direction of the Association. The ideal Executive Director candidate is a seasoned industry expert with a wide base of experience in the business of the PVMA. PVMA’s mission is to provide vegetation management industries, related agencies, and the public with communication and educational opportunities in the area of vegetation management. The Executive Director is a non-voting member of the Board of Directors and reports directly to the President.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
The Executive Director will present a report of activities at each Board of Directors meeting and upon request of the President. The anticipated work schedule is based on 400 hours per year or roughly two ½ days per week. The schedule is flexible and will be based out of a home office, with an option to work out of the Leduc office. Attendance will be required at Board meetings and events. The hours of work are flexible, based on the tasks at hand, and some travel will be required. The Executive Director may request the assistance of the Office Manager to conduct the administrative tasks, provided that the tasks are within the normal working scope of the Office Managers position. The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following tasks, which may require input and/or approval of the Board of Directors.
Committee and Executive Support
Assist the Board in the delivery and maintenance of the business plan
Collect annual work plans and budgets from each committee
Liaise and provide support to the Board, Committees, and UTT/UTW Board of Governors
Monitor budgets and the status of projects
Administrative Support
Review and update the Guide for Directors and Members Handbook
Respond to correspondence and relay pertinent information to the Board
Assist in the organization and delivery of the conferences and other public events
Contribute to the Vegetation Manager magazine
Public Relations
Generate digital and print content for the PVMA website and social media platforms
Represent the Association externally to other interest groups and to the media
Represent the Association internally to the membership, in cooperation with the Board
Fundraising
Participate in setting fundraising goals
Assess and recommends new funding opportunities
Prepare funding applications and proposals
The position will be a part-time consulting position comprised of approximately 400 hours a year with renumeration in the range of $20,000-$25,000 annually.
