EQUS is seeking a Utility Tree Trimmer / Worker to join our team. Based out of Onoway, Utility Tree Trimmer (UTT) is responsible for implementing all brushing policies set forth by EQUS.  They are also be responsible for supervising and training Utility Tree Workers and Groundspersons in all brushing and ground work.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Ensure safe limits of approach and maintaining right-of-way access by eliminating problem vegetation growing along high voltage power lines

- Manage all assigned equipment and enforce the equipment maintenance program

- Report of all problems, incidents and accidents to the supervisor

- Give pre-notification of public for forestry work on private property including obtaining permission from property owners to do necessary line clearance

- Deal with member concerns

- Use climbing equipment to climb and work at varying heights cutting, trimming and pruning trees

- Obtain landowner consents

Review and Approval of Work

This position reports to the Vegetation Leader

Qualifications

- Certified Utility Tree Trimmer through the Professional Vegetation Managers Association, or similar

- Valid class 5 driver's license with a clean driver's abstract and a Q air endorsement

- Working knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in tree trimming and tree removal

- Ability to read maps to determine maintenance of existing right-of-ways

- Experience operating mulchers considered an asset
