PVMA Requirements for Utility Tree Workers and Trimmers

REQUIREMENT

UTILITY TREE TRIMMER

Access the UTT/UTT Demonstrated Proficiency Checklist to be completed and included with your Course Application and Proficiency Documents. X X
A record of 1200 hours experience cutting or trimming trees around energized powerlines (recorded on a Verification of Hours Worked Around Powerlines Form). X X

Demonstrated Proficiencies Record Book pages 1-11* (signed by foreman, worker and employer) mowing sections may not apply for all workers. *Note if using record book from before September 2020 then pages 1-15 are requied

Send to PVMA for approval prior to registering for UTW Course X X
Successful completion of Utility Tree Worker Safety Training Course or equivalent. X X
A record of an additional 1200 hours experience cutting trees around powerlines from the ground (recorded on a Verification of hours worked around powerlines Form) X  
A record of an additional 1200 hours experience cutting and trimming trees around energized powerlines, of which 600 hours trimming trees are from an aerial device   X

Demonstrated Proficiencies Record Book pages 12-24* (signed by foreman, worker and employer)
Not all items will apply for Tree Workers

*Note is using record book from before September 2020 then pages 16-29 are required

Successful completion of Electrical Awareness Course This course is offered through the PVMA to train workers in other industries in basic Electrical Safety  

 

**Please note; Climbing hours only qualify for aerial hours when under direct supervision of a UTT or CUA and signed off by the certified individual.
